New Managing Director Appointed For South Regional TAFE

  • Blair Marsh appointed Managing Director of South Regional TAFE
  • Five-year term commencing 2 November 2024

Minister Assisting the Training and Workforce Development Minister Hannah Beazley is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Blair Marsh to the position of Managing Director at South Regional TAFE.

Mr Marsh's five-year term commences on 2 November 2024, following his appointment by His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, Governor of Western Australia.

Minister Beazley acknowledged the service of Ms Kathy Keay, who has been ably leading South Regional TAFE as acting Managing Director for 12 months during a time of unprecedented demand for vocational education and training in WA.

Mr Marsh has worked in WA's TAFE sector for 20 years, spending time in regional colleges and most recently as the General Manager of Training Services at South Metropolitan TAFE for eight years.

During this time, Mr Marsh has made a significant contribution to ensuring an agile and responsive WA TAFE network with the capacity to navigate periods of complexity, including times of high demand for training and through the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his move to South Regional TAFE, Mr Marsh will head-up one of WA's leading TAFE colleges and guide the delivery of high-quality vocational education and training to more than 10,000 students in WA's South West and Great Southern regions.

Mr Marsh's priorities as Managing Director will include maintaining a high standard of service delivery across South Regional TAFE's 12 campuses, which service smaller regional and remote communities over very large geographical areas.

A key focus of the position is providing affordable and accessible world-class training to the local community.

Mr Marsh holds an Executive Master of Public Administration from the Australia and New Zealand School of Government and Curtin University and a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) from Curtin University.

WA's TAFEs play a critical role in the training and development of our State's current and future workforces.

There were 153,800 publicly funded vocational course enrolments in WA last year, driven by strong uptake in the WA Labor Government's fee-free and low-fee courses, with high demand continuing in 2024.

The Cook Government's record $250 million investment in new and upgraded infrastructure at WA TAFEs is also ensuring they have ongoing capacity to deliver world-class, industry-standard training.

As stated by Minister Assisting the Training and Workforce Development Minister Hannah Beazley:

"I would like to congratulate and warmly welcome Blair Marsh to the position of Managing Director at South Regional TAFE.

"Over his 20 years in the WA TAFE sector, Mr Marsh has been involved in managing training delivery to hundreds of thousands of students.

"Mr Marsh's leadership abilities are characterised by his strong commitment to innovation, collaboration, empowerment, transparency, and safety, which will serve him well as he leads South Regional TAFE into its next phase of working closely with local industry and other partners to train the future WA workforce.

"I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of Ms Kathy Keay, who has been acting in the managing director position over the past 12 months.

"I thank Kathy for her leadership and contribution to the TAFE sector, which I value highly."
