New Medicare Urgent Care Clinic Opens In Bridgewater

A new Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) has opened in Bridgewater, expanding access to fully bulk-billed care for Hobart's northern suburbs.

Operated by Your Hobart Doctor trading as Jordan River Health, the Medicare UCC will open 7 days per week from 10am to 8pm to provide patients with urgent medical treatment, without the need for an appointment.

It joins four existing Tasmanian clinics in Hobart (Liverpool Street and Bathurst Street), Devonport and Launceston, which have seen more than 50,000 patients in their first year of operation.

Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, welcomed the opening and called on the Federal Government to provide more UCCs to ensure Tasmanians have access to primary care, when and where they need it.

"The Bridgewater Urgent Care Clinic will reduce pressure on the Royal Hobart Hospital and make it easier for people to see a doctor or nurse when urgent, but non-life-threatening care is required," Minister Petrusma said.

"We will continue to work closely with the Federal Government to ensure our Medicare Urgent Care Clinics continue meeting the needs of Tasmanian patients, noting Tasmania deserves more UCCs and we have consistently made this case to the Commonwealth.

"The Tasmanian Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is all about taking more action, right now, on issues affecting Tasmanians like health."

The Bridgewater Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is located at 9-11 Hurst Street, Bridgewater.
