Kiama Council welcomes NSW's new Minister for Local Government, Wendy Tuckerman to the portfolio.
CEO Jane Stroud thanked the outgoing Minister Shelley Hancock and welcomed Minister Tuckerman to the new role.
"We warmly welcome the new Minister for Local Government Wendy Tuckerman's appointment. Kiama Council has had a good relationship with the Office of Local Government NSW in the past and we hope this will continue as we move into 2022."
"Our next term of Council will be all about strategic choices, sustainable futures and ensuring our long-term financial viability. I look forward to working with the new Council and Minister Tuckerman to achieve this," said Ms Stroud.
A statement from Local Government NSW President Darriea Turley AM said Mrs Tuckerman brings a wealth of local government experience to the Cabinet table, having previously served as a Councillor and as the first female Mayor of Boorowa Council, which was later merged to become Hilltops Council.
"With a range of reforms proposed in the sector, having a Minister with first-hand experience of the challenges impacting local government will be invaluable," said Ms Stroud.
"I also acknowledge Minister Tuckerman's experience and strong commitment to regional NSW and extend an invite to her to visit us in Kiama LGA, learn about our community and see some of our beautiful area," said Ms Stroud.
