New online database can aid in learning Chinese

On 25 November, researchers from the UAB Department of Translation and Interpreting and East Asian Studies will be presenting e·Chinese, an online quadrilingual database created to help users learn Chinese. The presentation will take place at the Confucius Institute Foundation in Barcelona.

The main objective of this project, funded by the Confucius Institute Foundation in Barcelona and the UAB Department of Translation and Interpreting and East Asian Studies, is to offer open access to a list of online resources aimed at teaching and learning Chinese. These types of materials are scattered throughout the internet and are therefore difficult to find when specifically needed. In addition, the diversity of pages and lack of time often make it complicated to be able to assess the suitability and quality of each site.

In order to reach their objective, members of the del Grup de Recerca sobre Chinese-Spanish/Catalan Translation Research Group (TXICC) have collected, selected, described and validated dozens of resources thanks to a systematic and detailed categorisation of  the most relevant aspects, such as types of resource, level within the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), skills practiced, working language, key words, etc.

The presentation will take place at 6 p.m. at the headquarters of the Confucius Institute Foundation in Barcelona, located at Carrer Elisabets 10. To attend please sign up by filling out this form.
