Women and families can now access a range of family violence and family wellbeing services in one safe place, with the Goulburn Orange Door network now open.
Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence Gabrielle Williams officially opened the new Orange Door site in Shepparton today, which will support families across the Goulburn region - covering the Moira, Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, Mitchell and Murrindindi local government areas.
The Orange Door in Goulburn is a partnership between local service providers including Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative, FamilyCare, Primary Care Connect, Nexus Primary Health, and the Victorian Government.
It has a site in Shepparton, which will be supported by an access point planned for Wallan, as well as outposted and outreach services across the region.
The Orange Door can be accessed in person, via a dedicated telephone number, or by referral from other services.
The Orange Door network has helped thousands of people across Victoria since it began, bringing together workers from specialist family violence, child and family, men's and Aboriginal services to provide a coordinated network of specialist support.
Seven locations are already operating - supporting people who live in Barwon, Inner Gippsland, North East Melbourne, Bayside Peninsula, Central Highlands, Loddon and the Mallee - with the remaining nine locations on track to be opened by the end of next year.
The Orange Door services are funded by a $448 million investment by the Labor Government - part of a record more than $3 billion investment to address family violence following the Royal Commission into Family Violence.
The Orange Door is a free service and can be contacted in Goulburn on 1800 634 245 via email on [email protected] from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm (excluding public holidays). More information is available at orangedoor.vic.gov.au
