The City of Greater Bendigo will install new outdoor fitness equipment along the Lake Neangar walking path near the car park at the rear of the Eaglehawk Bowls Club in June.
Equipment to be installed at the new fitness station will include a cross trainer and two exercise bikes with touchscreens and Bluetooth connectivity, a balance station and arm bike along with line marking for leg exercises such as lunges and jumps. Instructional and other signage will also be installed at the site.
City of Greater Bendigo Active and Healthy Communities Amy Johnston said the type of equipment was selected after receiving feedback from users of the City's other fitness stations in Kangaroo Flat and Long Gully.
"The installation of the fitness equipment at Lake Neangar will provide the community with access to free exercise equipment along the existing walking circuit," Ms Johnston said.
"As the fitness equipment is free to use and easily accessible, it will hopefully encourage members of the community to increase their physical activity and improve health and wellbeing outcomes.
"The new equipment will benefit the whole Eaglehawk community by providing a free opportunity to exercise in a space that is always available."
The project is a $127,500 investment in the Eaglehawk Open Space precinct by the City of Greater Bendigo."
Work to install the new fitness equipment will commence in June and is expected to take about four weeks to complete.
