It's time to schedule your next playdate at the newly upgraded Tim Neville Arboretum playground.
The reserve on Dorset Road in Ferntree Gully is a popular destination for relaxation and outdoor activities. It features a lake, gazebo, amphitheatre, picnic and BBQ areas, gardens and now, a newly renovated play area.
The upgraded playground is suitable for children of all ages. It retains the original castle and dragon design theme and, incorporates a combination of renovated equipment such as a climbing net, flying fox, castle fort, sea monster, and spinners with the following brand-new features:
- drawbridge
- dragon-themed water play area
- sandpit with water play equipment
- large, wide slide
- 'quad-bay' swing
Additional safety and accessibility features have been incorporated into the upgrade, including the installation of shade sails over the sandpit and water play areas, the planting of more trees for natural shade, and the widening of pathways to improve mobility around the equipment. Chat boards will be installed early next year subject to future funding.
Based on routine audit results, it was identified that the playground would benefit from an upgrade. Community feedback helped us develop a revised concept design and construction of the new playground commenced in April. The work was finalised this week, at the end of August.
We're excited to announce the completion of this project and invite the community to visit, explore, and enjoy the newly renovated play area.
The Tim Neville playground upgrade is part of the Knox Playspace Renewal Program and the 2023 - 2024 Capital Works Program.
