In exciting news for kids and families, a new playground is coming to Endeavour Park, Taree.
MidCoast Council will build the new playground near to the rowing club, on the foreshore of the Manning River.
Works will start in October, weather permitting. Construction will take approximately 8 weeks to complete and will occur between 7am - 6pm.
The new playground will replace the flood-damaged equipment removed from Queen Elizabeth Park in Taree.
The new site, to the western side of Endeavour Car Park, provides greater resilience from floodwaters which is a condition of the funding.
"The playground will be a welcome addition to the popular family-friendly recreation area," said Council's Manager of Strategy and Projects, Amanda Hatton.
The playground builds upon the existing natural shade within the site, and co-locates the activity with existing covered barbecues, seating areas and parking.
"The foreshore area is an idyllic location to take in the views, and for boating enthusiasts to utilise the public jetties and pontoons accessing the Manning River."
"The new location will provide playgrounds at each end of the foreshore reserve."
This $450,000 project is possible thanks to funding from the Regional NSW Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Program.
