New primary school in Burns Beach officially named

  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has today announced 'Burns Beach Primary School' as the official name of the new $18.3 million school opening in 2022.

    An advisory group was established to identify possible names for the new school, and a decision was made after extensive consultation with the local school community.

    The school can now finalise the design of a logo, uniforms and school colours.

    Burns Beach Primary School is on track to welcome its first students in 2022 and will serve families in the popular coastal suburb north of Perth.

    The school will open for students from kindergarten to Year 6.

    The new school will feature an early childhood teaching block, an arts and science block, a library and staffroom block, an administration building with a dental therapy centre, car parking and landscaping.

    From 2023, the school will also provide an education support program for eligible students with disability.

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    "This is a very exciting announcement for the Burns Beach community and one of the important decisions that will help shape this school's identity.

    "Having recently visited the site of the new school it is exciting to see it taking shape."

    As stated by Burns Beach MLA Mark Folkard:

    "It is exciting that this outstanding new school officially has a name.

    "I'm proud to be able to deliver quality public education facilities for our community and Burns Beach Primary School will be a fine example of that."
