Allied health services in Ipswich, Queensland, have received a boost with the launch of a new clinic.
The Ramsay Health Plus clinic is an expansion of the rehabilitation services on offer at St Andrew's Private Hospital.
An expert team of physiotherapists and exercise physiologists will staff the centre, with the aim of helping patients manage ongoing chronic and acute health conditions.
St Andrew's Ipswich Private Hospital CEO Claire Thurwood said the staff were keen to help their patients return to work, sport, and recreation.
"People may choose to come here as part of a readmission program, after surgery or for treatment independent of any hospital services," Ms Thurwood said.
"Treatment is available to anyone in the community, and you don't need a doctor's referral to access Ramsay Health Plus."
The clinic offers individually-designed treatment programs for a range of concerns including:
- Pre- and post-surgery rehabilitation
- Injuries and pain management
- Cancer treatment rehabilitation
- Pregnancy and post-natal women's health services
- Balance and falls prevention
- Management of neurological conditions, cardiac and respiratory diseases
- General health and wellbeing
St Andrew's is also ready to start work on a $44 million development, which will deliver a comprehensive cancer centre, renal dialysis service, expanded radiology service, and two new integrated operating theatres.
"The expansion will also include a new day rehabilitation program space, purpose-built for the needs of patients," Ms Thurwood said.
"At Ramsay Health Care we're committed to our Ramsay Cares strategy, which focuses on investing in our local region and supporting the health and prosperity of our communities.
"This expansion is another step towards Ramsay Health Care being able to provide all the services the community of Ipswich needs, eliminating the need for patients to have to travel to Brisbane for health care."
