Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has today officially opened the $21.8 million Riva Primary School in Piara Waters, which has capacity to cater for more than 500 students.
The new state-of-the-art facilities include a teaching block for kindergarten and pre-primary classes, three general teaching blocks and one teaching block with space for an arts and craft and science room.
The school's covered assembly area includes a canteen and a music room, while hard courts and an oval provide spaces for students to learn and play.
Riva Primary School also has facilities such as an education support hub building to create a fully inclusive school environment and support students with special needs.
The school is the latest primary school to be built in the Piara Waters area and provides a modern updated setting for local families.
The local community was consulted at the planning stage to ensure the needs of the students are met well into the future.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
"This wonderful new school will support students to achieve their best and give them a great foundation for the future.
"The founding values of Riva Primary School are 'respect, inclusion and achievement', and these are reflected through the teachers, students, and learning environment."
As stated by Jandakot MLA Yaz Mubarakai:
"I have worked with the Minister to ensure that Piara Waters families have access to great local schools, so this is an exciting moment for the local community.
"The brand new Riva Primary School facilities will mean students in the local area can enjoy high-quality educational opportunities and spaces to learn and play."
