Construction of a roof for courts one and two at Diamond Creek netball courts is underway.
The roof construction is funded via $1 million from the Victorian Government and a $652,400 Council contribution.
The addition of a roof over the two courts enables matches to be played in all weather. A new pavilion and upgrades to lighting have been completed in recent years.
The roof will be skillion design to complement the existing netball pavilion with the
installation of a Wonderglass facade at one end, which will allow natural light to filter through while providing additional protection from the elements.
Ellis Ward Councillor Peter Perkins said the development will enhance the overall appeal and usability of the Diamond Creek sporting precinct. He thanked the Victorian Government for their significant investment in our community.
"The new construction provides all-weather facilities for Nillumbik's dedicated netball players and spectators," Cr Perkins said.
"The Diamond Creek Netball Courts cater to a large number of players and teams from throughout the region," Cr Perkins said, "These finishing touches make it a significant sporting hub for our local community and beyond."
The six other courts remain open for use during this construction phase. Work is anticipated to be complete mid-2024.
