The Tasmanian Liberal Government has announced the 15 new schools that will join the Healthy School Lunch Program in 2025.
As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, the Tasmanian Government is doubling the program from 30 to 60 schools by 2026.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the program supports our students' wellbeing and learning through access to nutritious food.
"Principals and school staff have reported the program is having positive impacts, with students trying new foods and developing healthy eating habits," Minister Palmer said.
"We know that students are more likely to concentrate and enjoy school when they have a healthy lunch, and having access to nutritional food sets the foundation for students to engage in their learning.
"That's why our Government has committed $14.6 million to expand the program, ensuring more students benefit from healthy and nutritious cooked school lunches."
More than 190,000 nutritious cooked lunches were provided to over 4000 students in 30 schools last year.
In collaboration with non-profit partners, School Food Matters and Loaves & Fishes Tasmania, 15 schools will be added to the program in 2025 and another 15 in 2026.
Following an expression of interest process, the 15 new schools to be selected to join the program in 2025 are:
