New Service to Enhance Support for WA Foster Carers

  • New service providing information and advice to foster and family carers
  • State Government on track to deliver all recommendations from the Foster Care Refresh Project
  • Recommendations deliver positive outcomes for children in care through improved collaboration between sector and family and foster carers

A new service to bolster support for Western Australia's foster and family carers has launched today to ensure easier access to advice and information.

The 'Fostering Connections' team will provide a single point of contact for foster and family carers on information such as carer entitlements, policy and procedures, along with various carer supports available.

The team will also be an avenue for feedback and suggestions for future improvement to policies and supports.

Through the launch of the platform, the Cook Government will deliver on all remaining recommendations of the Foster Care Refresh Project to improve outcomes for children in care across the State.

Other recommendations that have been delivered include a $17 million investment to increase foster carer support services, launching a State-wide recruitment campaign, and developing a guide for foster and family carers.
