New Site Opens for Vulnerable People Registration

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government is launching a new, user-friendly Registration to Work with Vulnerable People website, which streamlines processes and improves the overall experience of users seeking to Register for the scheme.

The new streamlined website includes fact sheets and sector guides, and news about upcoming changes to the RWVP scheme.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Guy Barnett, said whether you're an individual applying or an employer checking the status of new workers or volunteers, the new website will provide more direct and easier access to everything you need to know about RWVP.

"Under the RWVP scheme, anyone who works or volunteers with vulnerable people, including children, in regulated activities must be registered," the Attorney-General said.

"It is vital that we ensure we're safeguarding the most vulnerable in our community and the RWVP scheme is vital in doing so.

"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future our Government is committed to protecting all Tasmanians."

On April 1, changes to the RWVP scheme will come into effect, removing two exemptions from the requirement to hold registration: the 7-day exemption and the emergency management worker exemption.

Further changes coming later this year include amendments to the RWVP Regulations to include broader categories of vulnerable adults to be protected under the RWVP Scheme; and a new online registration system to provide a better user experience for registrants and employers.
