- Construction is underway on four new social homes in Zillmere
- These homes replace an older property previously on the site to maximise the land's housing potential
- It's part of a record $5 billion for social and affordable housing, and housing and homelessness supports, the largest investment in Queensland's history, to help achieve its commitment of 13,500 homes
The development features four one-bedroom units with multi-purpose space, including three built to gold and one built to platinum standard under the Liveable Housing Design Guidelines.
This means these homes are suitable for older people and people with disability, with features including wider hallways and doors.
This development is being delivered in partnership with the Umpi Korumba Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Corporation for Housing and will provide more social housing for First Nations people in need.
The units in Zillmere are among more than 600 social housing homes currently under construction across the state.
It also joins a number of projects underway or recently completed, where sites with one or two ageing social homes have been able to be replaced with more homes, including:

The Palaszczuk Government is investing a record $5 billion on social and affordable housing, and housing and homelessness supports – the largest concentrated investment in the state's history – to help commence more than 13,500 homes by mid-2027.
This includes an additional $322 million to commence an additional 500 social homes through QuickStarts Queensland, and $64.3 million for the purchase and lease of emergency accommodation facilities in Brisbane, both approved in this year's State Budget.
