Residents and visitors to Stirling and Lobethal main streets will soon notice a new type of bin being trialed by Council's waste management team.
The CleanCube smart bins, distributed by South Australian company Smart City Solutions, are solar powered, compact on site, and house a standard 240L wheelie bin that holds up to eight times more waste than usual. When full, these bins send an alert to the waste company for collection.
The result is fewer collections, fewer trucks on our roads, and less carbon emisisons attributed to waste in our district.
An initial trial of two bins will take place over the next six months, with one bin being installed in Stirling's main street, and one in Lobethal's.
