New Speed Zones for Echuca Rd, Mooroopna & Verney Rd

Greater Shepparton City Council wishes to advise the implementation of new speed limits across two major roads in Shepparton and Mooroopna.

In Summary

  • New speed limits to be introduced on Echuca Road, Mooroopna, and Verney Road, Shepparton.
  • Speed limits will reduce from 80km/h to 60km/h in key sections, with a new 40km/h school zone on Verney Road.
  • Changes are part of Council's ongoing road safety strategy to reduce traffic incidents and enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians.
  • Council urges residents to adjust to the new limits and continue practicing safe driving habits for community safety.

The speed limit changes along Verney Road, Shepparton and Echuca Road, Mooroopna, are part of a broader strategy to reduce traffic-related incidents and create safer environments for both motorists and pedestrians.

In the coming weeks, both Echuca Road, between Cornish Road and Gange Street, and Verney Road, between Ford Road and the Goulburn Valley Highway, will change from 80km/h to 60km/h. Additionally, a new 40km/h school zone will be introduced on Verney Road along the school frontage to increase safety for students.

As the new speed limits take effect, Council encourages all residents to familiarise themselves with the upcoming changes and continue to practice safe driving habits.

"We understand that these changes may require some adjustments for local drivers in their daily routines, and we appreciate their cooperation as we strive to make our streets safer for everyone," Council's Manager Engineering and Assets, Ben Gannon said.

"By collectively adhering to these measures, we can significantly reduce accidents and build a safer community. Council remains committed to prioritising the safety and wellbeing of all residents and visitors through ongoing efforts to enhance road safety."
