The Institute for Health Science Research Germans Trias i Pujol, the Technical University of Catalonia – BarcelonaTech and the University of Barcelona have created Nimble Diagnostics, a spin-off to sell a device for monitoring stents through a microwave-based technology. Stents are one of the most used medical devices due to its ability to restore the proper flow in blood and other fluids. Its monitoring through the Nimble system will enable the identification of potential heart conditions before it is too late, in a non-invasive, fast and easy way. This will enable the implementation of early treatments to prevent serious complications from happening, as well as to identify and optimize the pharmacological treatment of patients, correlate the symptoms with the stent function and to take a holistic approach to the patient's treatment.
