New Teacher, Principal Recruits Boost NT Education

NT Government

The Finocchiaro CLP Government has welcomed 146 teachers, and 23 principals, recently recruited for schools and classrooms across the Northern Territory.

The new recruits will attend orientation sessions to equip them with information and support for a smooth transition into their school and community.

Leading into Term 1 next week, the orientation supports recent recruits to develop an understanding of the key priorities for NT schools, along with resources to enable our educators to deliver quality teaching and learning.

Orientation sessions cover a range of topics such as system and school improvement, leadership, teaching and learning practices, school support services, working in remote schools, and many others.

Minister for Education and Training, Jo Hersey, said: "The priority of our government continues to centre on building a quality education system for all students."

"Territory schools are the heart of our communities, and we want to focus our efforts as a government to support our teachers to deliver the absolute best education to every child in every school," she said.

"Thank you for the work you are about to embark on in 2025, and for making the commitment to be a part of the Territory.

"Our new teachers who come from interstate will soon learn the Northern Territory has Australia's best lifestyle, and I hope they enjoy every minute, put down roots in our communities and stay to contribute to our future."

The new teachers bring a range of experience, with some having worked interstate for many years, whilst others have recently graduated from university.
