Today, Safe Work Australia launched a collection of new tools on its data website, Our Data. Your Stories., to help users assess, measure and report on work health and safety (WHS) performance.
The tools include:
- a new webpage to help interpret data and understand the principles underpinning WHS reporting and performance, and
- a new interactive dashboard providing workers' compensation injury frequency rate data with a range of breakdown options to support benchmarking.
Drawing data from Safe Work Australia's national workers' compensation statistics, the dashboard can be filtered by industry, occupation, injury type and severity.
The new dashboard supports a more holistic approach to using data to measure WHS performance and will ultimately replace the existing Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) calculator.
While the LTIFR is one way to assess the impact of poor WHS on productivity, this measure has limitations when used to measure WHS performance. The LTIFR calculator will be available in its current form on the data website until March 2025.
