New Tourism WA Managing Director Appointed

  • Anneke Brown appointed as new Tourism WA managing director

Highly experienced hospitality and hotel project manager Anneke Brown has been appointed as Tourism Western Australia's new managing director.

Ms Brown has 25 years of international, national and local experience in hospitality leadership roles and has worked closely with prestigious hotels in Western Australia to elevate their offerings.

A highly regarded leader in Western Australia's tourism industry, Ms Brown's experience includes senior roles with global hotel brands including Aman Resorts and COMO Hotels & Resorts, and at the helm of a renowned hotel consultancy business which provided services to hospitality venues to help achieve design and operational excellence.

Ms Brown is also the Chair of WA's Women in Tourism and Hospitality association and a former Tourism WA Board Commissioner.

Anneke will be taking over the managing director role at Tourism WA from Steph Underwood, who has acted in the role since May 2024.

Ms Brown has been appointed for a five-year term which will commence on Monday, 9 December 2024.

"The tourism sector plays a critical role in supporting local jobs and businesses, generating money for our State's economy through visitor spend and supporting our efforts to diversify.

"With this in mind, it's vital we have an experienced leader at the helm of Tourism WA, and we're really pleased to have appointed Anneke Brown to this managing director position.

"Ms Brown brings with her a tremendous wealth of international experience in tourism and hospitality, which is vital to developing Western Australia's tourism industry and continuing to make our state the destination of choice.

"I would also like to thank Steph Underwood for her dedication and commitment as acting managing director since May 2024."
