New unconference in bush to help grow innovative agri-ideas

Growing Ideas (small)

Northern Grampians Shire Council is proud to partner with the Victorian State Government, Co-Design Studio, and Grampians Community Health to present the inaugural Growing Ideas Festival.

The new festival is a day out "unconference" with an unconventional conference approach that encourages sharing big ideas and generating important strategies and plans for our regional farming future.

In the Northern Grampians, we are at the heart of world-leading research, education and business programs and organisations, including some of the world's most productive and innovative food and fibre farms.

Growing Ideas 2020 will bring together the best and brightest of our agricultural industry and plant the seeds for a brighter future in food, farming, and production.

The Northern Grampians Shire fully intends to enable and energise our local Wimmera and Grampians producers, businesses, educators and thinkers to grow and develop this platform for themselves to best suit their future needs.

The festival will also feature a family-friendly film screening, food and beverage options, and presentations from the cutting edge of agricultural thinking.

The film, 'Happy Sad Man', is a charming and uplifting insight into the lives of five very different Australian men as Australian filmmaker Genevieve Bailey was inspired to find more diverse and positive portrayals of men exploring their emotional selves.

Central Ward Councillor, Murray Emerson, said the event will encourage the next generations, and current farmers to think differently about the ag industry.

"By bringing together industry experts, local knowledge, and new ideas we can help facilitate a bright future for farming in the region," he said.

"This event is set to be a great addition to our calendar that will provide support to existing businesses to assist with long term sustainability and prepare our community for the

employment transition into the future."

Growing Ideas Unconference in the Bush will take place at the Marnoo Recreation Reserve on Friday 13 March from 10am to 5pm. All welcome to attend. Free Entry. Bookings via Eventbrite.
