- Launch of the WA Lifetime Volunteer Service Award
- The new award category pays tribute to Western Australians who have dedicated 60 years or more of voluntary service
The McGowan Government has launched the inaugural Lifetime Volunteer Service Award which will be included in the Department of Communities' WA Volunteer Service Awards program from 2023 onwards.
Volunteering Minister Stephen Dawson presented the five deserving community members with a certificate and WA Volunteer Service Award 'Lifetime' pin to acknowledge their remarkable 60 plus years of voluntary service. Combined, these five individuals have contributed an incredible 321 years of voluntary service to Western Australian communities.
The inaugural award recipients were identified from previous Volunteer Service Awards and have served a total of 60 years or more as a registered volunteer. Recipients include:
- Mrs Anne Brinkworth, Australian Red Cross;
- Ms Norma Beer, Rebound WA;
- Mrs Margaret Bettenay, Roleystone Theatre;
- Mrs Shirley Schneider, Softball WA; and
- Mrs Irene Morcombe, Wildflower Society of Western Australia (Armadale).
The 2023 WA Volunteer Service Awards nomination period will officially open soon.
