Culture and the arts stalwart Sheila McHale AM has been appointed as the new Chair of the Western Australian Museum Board of Trustees.
Ms McHale was a Member of Parliament from 1996 to 2008 and a Cabinet Minister for eight years, holding a range of portfolios, including Culture and the Arts.
Since leaving Parliament, Ms McHale has directed her expertise towards community services, firstly as the CEO of Palmerston Association, one of WA's foremost alcohol and other drugs rehabilitation services, and non-executive director and chairperson of numerous boards.
Ms McHale replaces the Hon Melissa Parke, who served on the WA Museum Board of Trustees from 2020, initially as a Trustee and then as Board Chair.
Joining Ms McHale on the board is Terri-ann White, writer, publisher, and owner of Upswell Publishing. With nearly 20 years of experience in writing and publishing, Ms White has a passion for storytelling and language.
The WA Museum Board of Trustees also recently welcomed Gary McGrath and Warren Pearce.
As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

"Sheila McHale brings a wealth of Government and non-Government experience, knowledge, and passion to this new role, including her valued role as a Minister for Culture and the Arts in the Gallop and Carpenter Governments. She is an experienced non-executive director and chairperson.
"Since opening the WA Museum Boola Bardip in November 2020, the Western Australian Museum has gone from strength to strength as one of the State's premier cultural institutions. It is an exciting time to welcome new trustees and its chairperson.
"I look forward to working with all board members to continue the remarkable success of the Western Australia Museum."
