New WasteSorted Schools Grant Recipients Revealed

  • Grants awarded to 46 schools throughout Western Australia
  • More than $140,000 in funding for education and behaviour change projects
  • Program has awarded more than $2.6 million in its two-decade history

Dozens of schools throughout Western Australia will share in more than $140,000 in grants that will fund initiatives that assist in avoiding and recovering waste.

The WasteSorted Schools program offers grants to accredited schools for protecting the environment and reducing waste by recycling, composting, avoiding landfill and inspiring students through hands-on learning.

Recipients can use the funds for a range of projects, including:

  • setting up recycling hubs for students and their parents;
  • worm farms and chicken coops;
  • Containers for Change bin systems;
  • vegetable gardens; and
  • supporting waste-free canteen lunches.

Grants of up to $5,500 per school are available in two rounds per financial year.
