Newfoundland and Labrador's cruise ship industry continues to ride the wave of success thanks to a significant boost from federal and provincial governments. With strategic investments charting a course for growth, this dynamic sector is set to welcome even more visitors, showcase this province's world-renowned coastline, and fuel local economies across the province.

Today, the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA, along with the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced a non-repayable investment of $473,693 for Cruise Newfoundland & Labrador (Cruise NL). The provincial government, through the Department of Industry, Energy and Technology, is contributing $150,000 toward the project.

The funding will support international marketing and strategic initiatives to grow the cruise sector in Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as build capacity and market readiness to attract and receive yacht and cruise expedition lines from around the world.

These activities will attract more out-of-province visitors, increasing tourism and driving local business by giving more people the chance to discover and explore the region's rich cultural, natural and historical offerings.

Today's announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada's commitment to help grow Atlantic Canada's tourism sector and showcase the region's diverse experiences to visitors from around the world.
