Newrybar Streetscape Plan Seeks Community Input

Community invited to collaborate on the Draft Streetscape Master Plan for Newrybar

Ballina Shire Council is preparing a streetscape master plan for Newrybar and the community is invited to get involved!

Established in the 1880s, the charming hamlet of Newrybar is one of the earliest colonial settlements in Ballina Shire and the surrounding region.

"We understand the community value the quiet rural atmosphere and heritage beauty of Newrybar and want to retain this amenity, but there are some improvements that could be made," said Council's Landscape Architect Ms Sheryn Da-Re.

"So, we are inviting locals to provide input into the draft Streetscape Master Plan for the hamlet."

The study area for this master plan is focused on the streetscape in Newrybar. Once developed in consultation with the community, the final plan will provide a roadmap to guide future improvements.

"We need residents and business operators to share their ideas, whether its opportunities to increase shade and amenity, improve road safety, support events, activations, public art or green spaces," said Ms Da-Re.

There are many ways for the community to get involved:

  • Map your ideas on the dedicated project Your Say page.
  • Complete an online survey on the Your Say page.
  • Visit a pop-up information stall at Newrybar Community Hall from 4pm – 6pm on Wednesday 23 October 2024.
  • Attend our two-part community design workshops from 5.30pm – 7.30pm on Monday 11 November and 7.30am – 9am on Wednesday 13 November 2024.

The online interactive map and survey will be available from Monday 14 October to Monday 25 November 2024. Visit yoursayballina.com.au/newrybar-streetscape-master-plan for more information.

Submissions close Monday 25 November 2024.

No funding or grants have been secured at this stage for implementation of any works. However once completed, the master plan will enable Council to seek the funding required to make the community's aspirations a reality.
