The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has welcomed the appointment of Brent Mickelberg as the Queensland Government's Minister for Transport and Main Roads.

NHVR Chair Duncan Gay said he looked forward to working with Minister Mickelberg to continue to boost safety outcomes, productivity and efficiency across Queensland's heavy vehicle industry.

"On behalf of the Board, Chief Executive and NHVR staff, I congratulate Brent and welcome him to the role," Mr Gay said.

"With Queensland's heavy vehicle services this year transitioning from Transport and Main Roads to the NHVR, we are proud to now deliver important on-road compliance and education across this wide-reaching state.

"With a long record of public service, I trust Brent will be a strong supporter of industry as we continue to deliver reforms and services which improve road safety for all motorists."

Mr Gay also thanked outgoing Minister Bart Mellish for his support during his time as Minister for Transport.

"We wish Bart all the best for his future," he said.
