Nike and Football Australia have today unveiled the 2025 Australian National Football Team Collection, designed by renowned Kamilaroi artist Reko Rennie.
To be first worn by the CommBank Matildas this morning (9.00am AEDT kick-off), as they take on Japan in the SheBelieves Cup, the kit will also be adopted by all Football Australia national teams, including the Subway Socceroos from their upcoming Round 3 AFC Asian Qualifiers in March.
Marking a historic milestone, this is the first-ever Australian National Football Team Collection designed by a First Nations Artist. This collaboration unites Nike and Football Australia's shared vision for the future of football, seamlessly integrating First Nations story telling with the 'Forever Forging Forward' philosophy - symbolising progress, unity and excellence in Australian football. The design also embodies Reko Rennie's deep connection to the game and its ability to unite diverse communities, while offering a bold, contemporary reinterpretation of Australia's iconic green and gold.
At the core of the Collection is a message of connection and unity, reflected through First Nations design elements and a modern take on Australia's national colours. Both the home and away kits incorporate patterns inspired by traditional message sticks, historically used by First Nations communities to share stories and strengthen connections.
Speaking on the significance of the launch, Reko Rennie said: "It's been incredible to work on these kits, connecting the game I love, First Nations culture and the athletes and fans who make up the Australian football community.
"It's a huge achievement and it's so wild that I've had this opportunity and I'm representing my community. If someone had told 12-year-old Reko, a diehard football fan, that one day I'd have this opportunity, I would have never believed them!"
Nike Pacific Brand Director Nick Atkinson added: "This kit launch marks a significant moment for Australian football. It's a powerful message of cultural visibility and unity that celebrates the diversity of the Australian football community, and the game's power to unite. Nike are proud to partner with Reko Rennie and Football Australia for this Collection and are excited to see Australia supporting their National Teams in this new green and gold."
Football Australia CEO, James Johnson said: "Football Australia is incredibly proud to unveil the first-ever national team jersey designed by a First Nations artist, marking a historic milestone for our sport. This Collection embodies the essence of our 'Forever Forging Forward' philosophy - championing progress, inclusivity, and excellence at every level of the game.
"We are particularly thrilled that both the CommBank Matildas and Subway Socceroos will unite under a single, unified jersey. This kit will be proudly worn by the CommBank Matildas from now through to 2026 including the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026™, and by the Subway Socceroos throughout the remainder of their AFC Asian Qualifiers as they continue their journey toward the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
"More than just a jersey, this kit is a powerful symbol of Australia's footballing identity - seamlessly blending First Nations storytelling with cutting-edge performance innovation. It ensures that when our teams take the field, they do so in a design that honours both our rich cultural heritage and our bold ambitions on the global stage."
The Australian National Football Team Collection
The Home jersey features a contemporary reinterpretation of the iconic green and gold and is paired with deep green shorts. The Away kit features a version of the new pattern on the side panel of both the jersey and shorts, with the addition of Reko Rennie's signature pink to represent a modern interpretation of the ochre found in First Nations art.
For the first time, the Aboriginal Flag is represented on both the home and away kits in the inner pride position.
Backed by research conducted in the Nike Sport Research Lab, and using the latest advanced body-mapping technology, both kits feature Nike DRI-FIT ADV technology - the latest advanced performance material innovation engineered for the body in motion, prioritising mobility, breathability, and sustainability.
Bringing First Nations storytelling to streetwear, the anthem jacket showcases a striking pink pattern with a vintage oversized fit, seamlessly blending First Nations storytelling with modern streetwear.
Launching in April 2025, the lifestyle collection will deliver on supporters' style needs with fashion forward silhouettes echoing the designs from the Australian National Football Team Kit across fleeces, jackets and vests.
