Nillumbik Mayor Frances Eyre has been appointed to the influential Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel (LGMAP).
Victorian Minister for Local Government Shaun Leane today announced the 10-member 2022 Panel, to be chaired by the Minister himself.
It is made up of Mayors representing urban, regional, rural and interface councils with Nillumbik the only interface Council on this year's Panel.
The LGMAP provides high-level advice to the Minister on regulatory, statutory, policy and strategic issues that affect councils and their communities across the state.
In making his announcement the Minister said that the 2022 LGMAP would focus on COVID-19 recovery, gender equality and the strengthening of relations with First Nations Victorians.
Cr Eyre said it was an honour to be appointed to the LGMAP and that she looked forward to collaborating with the other panel members and the Minister on these critical issues.
"It is a real privilege to be named as a member of the Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel and I look forward to working with my fellow Mayors to provide the Victorian Government with the best possible advice," said Cr Eyre.
"The issues on which the Panel will focus are all priorities - to me, to Nillumbik Shire Council and to our community. These are issues that are both, universal and local, and I will bring a Nillumbik perspective as we look to find ways to address them."
The Panel will hold its first meeting on Wednesday 27 April.
