No Afternoon Delight For Southern Suburb Bottle Shops

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a series of bottle shop robberies in Melbourne's southern suburbs yesterday.

Investigators believe that a male offender started his afternoon by entering a liquor store on Glen Huntly Road in Elsternwick about 2pm.

The offender made demands for cigarettes and cash.

The man stole cash from the store and took off from the scene on foot.

A short time later, police believe that the same man entered a second bottle shop, this time on Church Street in Brighton about 2.30pm.

The offender threatened staff and made off from the store with cash.

The man was seen leaving the area in a stolen silver Honda civic.

Detectives believe that the same man entered bottle shop number three, on Bluff Road in Hampton about 3.40pm.

The offender, once again, demanded cash and cigarettes.

Despite his demands, this time he left empty handed.

No one was physically injured during the string of robberies.

It is believed the male offender involved in all three incidents wore dark pants, dark shoes, a black hoodie, black face covering and black gloves.

Investigators believe that the Honda was stolen from a Burwood address on 2 April.

Investigators wish to speak to anyone with information or who may have footage of the incidents.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppers.com.au
