Health staff play an important role in promoting falls prevention. Throughout the month of November, health professionals are encouraged to promote falls prevention messages amongst older consumers, as part of No Falls November.
From 2019 to 2020, falls made up 77 per cent of all injury hospitalisations and 71 per cent of injury deaths of adults aged 65 and over.
The good news is that falls can be prevented, and there is lots that health professionals and consumers can do to help prevent falls.
No Falls November is an important reminder that small actions can be undertaken to help prevent the incidence of falls in hospitals and residential aged care homes.
There is a suite of resources available for both consumers and health professionals that includes activities and educational materials.
