No need to book a swim at our pools - Wollongong

Good news for winter swimmers! Wollongong City Council is no longer asking people to book a swim ahead of time to visit the pool.

Instead, pool users and visitors will be required to check in on arrival using the QR code. We also ask everyone visiting our pools to follow the NSW Health guidelines including staying home if unwell.

This month, we're also switching over to our winter pool hours. From Monday 26 April, Helensburgh, Berkeley and Western Suburbs Pool will close until the start of the September school holidays. Continental, Dapto and Corrimal pools will remain open throughout winter, but opening hours will change.

"Now that there's less demand on our patrolled freshwater and saltwater pools, we're switching back to our winter pool hours," Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

"This means some of our pools will be closing over winter. And as we know our pools will not be as busy over the next few months, we're also no longer requiring pool-goers to book their swim beforehand. If you want to go for a swim, simply show up and check in at the pool."

Over the next few months, we will also take the opportunity to undertake routine maintenance on our pools. To allow this to be done with minimal disruption we will close pools on rotation for short period of time.

We'll kick off our maintenance work on Saturday 1 May with works to begin on the Corrimal Heated Pool. Works at Corrimal Heated Pool are scheduled to be completed by Monday 31 May.

Port Kembla Pool will also close from 10 May while we build a new Accessible Adult Change Facility.

Pool closure information, including rock pool cleaning times, will be made available on the Our Pool webpage.

"We've scheduled maintenance to run through the winter months so that we can minimise the impact on the public, and make sure our pools are ready to go for summer," Cr Bradbery said.

"While works on the Corrimal Pool are happening, I encourage swimmers to visit one of our other patrolled freshwater and saltwater pools."
