No New Ideas From Winter

Tasmanian Government

It appears Tasmanian Labor are all out of ideas and are taking the opportunity to claim credit for the ideas of others.

Additional day sailings when required has always been the policy of the Liberal Government.

And TT Line have run double sailings during peak passenger and freight periods to cater for increased demand.

A cursory glance at the TT Line sailing schedule or annual reports over the years would have given this away.

In fact, last financial year the Company ran an absolute record number of 199 day (or extra) sailings, eclipsing the previous record of 169. This supported TT Line transporting a record number of 450,012 passengers.

The extra day sailings are provided on the basis of customer demand. They will continue to be provided on this basis and not on Labor's uninformed headline seeking.

The Government continues to work closely with stakeholders in relation to the arrival of the two-brand new Spirit of Tasmania vessels.

This was reinforced last week when the Premier held a roundtable with industry stakeholders.

It's unfortunate Labor has chosen to claim credit for the ideas of others.

Mr Winter can claim Labor has changed all he likes, but we know a leopard doesn't change its spots.
