The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) have advised that there are numerous bushfires that continue to burn across NSW coast and ranges from the Queensland border, down to the South Coast. Today, elevated fire dangers are likely across eastern districts and existing firegrounds due to the hot and dry conditions.
By later this afternoon a gusty southerly change will bring some temperature relief to coastal districts, however the northern inland is likely to remain hot until the end of the week. The current forecast guidance suggests a southerly wind change to move through Ulladulla/Nowra mid-morning, Sydney coast from early afternoon and Newcastle during the evening. With a change expected to move up the north coast overnight and on Wednesday morning.
The Smoke from bushfires continues to affect large parts of NSW, reducing air quality. NSW Health advises that when air quality is affected by bushfire smoke, to stay indoors (with windows/doors closed) or air-conditioned premises if possible, and to avoid vigorous exercise (particularly activity outdoors).

The NSW SES continues to support NSW RFS with their response to the ongoing fires in the north east of the State. With many volunteers being deployed to assist in a number of key roles across the state such as Casino, Ulmarra, Glen Innes, Hawkesbury, Queanbeyan, Shoalhaven and Blue Mountains.
Thunderstorms are to be expected over a broad area of the North East of NSW from Tuesday, with the possibility of ignition of new fires. Unfortunately, these thunderstorms are not expected to bring significant rain.
What you can do to prepare:
- Move your car undercover and away from trees.
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
- Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen powerlines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
- Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
