To mark 40 years of Medicare, the Albanese Labor government is looking to honour and recognise the dedicated people and teams working in the primary health care sector right across the country.
The Stronger Medicare Awards provide an opportunity to acknowledge and thank our Medicare Champions who have devoted their careers and lives to delivering quality healthcare across the country.
Medicare Champions are everyday people, health professionals, teams and practices that go above and beyond to improve the health of their patients or people in their community.
The outstanding individuals and practices - from the city CBD to the most remote parts of the country - that provide exceptional care and work together to improve the health of their community.
If you know someone who has consistently provided exceptional care or embraces innovation to improve the health of people in your community, please make sure their efforts don't go unnoticed.
Nominate a Medicare Champion by 30 June 2024 - health.gov.au/medicare-turns-40
Quotes attributable to Assistant Minister McCarthy
"Whether it's the dedicated nurse practitioner who works hard to get everyone up to date on their immunisations or the GP working hard to improve the health and wellbeing of each person who comes through the door.
"The bus driver who makes sure people get to their renal dialysis and home again or the officer manager who guides new trainees - all of them deserve our thanks and now you can nominate for a Stronger Medicare Award to show your gratitude.
"Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services play such an important role in First Nations communities, so for me no celebration would be complete without acknowledging heroes of the sector."
