Do you know an outstanding senior who has gone above and beyond for the benefit of Townsville?
Townsville City Council wants you to nominate them for this year's Seniors Awards, celebrating senior residents who make the city an even better place to live.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said Council wanted to recognise people over the age of 65 who made a significant difference in their community.
"We're lucky here in Townsville to have such a great community, with so many different people making up the fabric of our city," Cr Greaney said.
"Seniors are an important part of that patchwork, as they often do plenty of work volunteering and going the extra mile to make Townsville a welcoming place to live.
"This year we are going to be recognising two Townsville seniors who have exemplified the spirit of community while volunteering in our city."
Cr Greaney said nominations had to be in by Thursday September 16.
"We are looking for nominees who are 65 or over, who live in Townsville, and who volunteer across the city," she said.
"Nominating someone is easy, just head to Council's website and fill out the form."
Winners will be announced on Thursday 21 October.
