Georges River Council is pleased to share that nominations for The Centre for Volunteering's 2025 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards are now open.
The NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards is one of the largest annual programs that celebrate our volunteers in NSW.
Council values our remarkable volunteers and their contribution to ensuring our community is supported, well-connected and vibrant.
In 2024, Penshurst local Tanima Banerjee was awarded the Southern Sydney Adult Volunteer of the Year Award. Our community recognised her incredible efforts in promoting health and wellbeing by offering educational support, ongoing music fitness classes, providing language assistance and fundraising for cancer research.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "As a representative of the community, you witness the impact our volunteers make in serving our community through event organisation, emergency responses and so much more.
"I invite our community to nominate their local volunteers for the 2025 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards because their work does not go unnoticed."
