Nominations for the 2024 City of Mount Gambier Citizen of the Year Awards are now open. The Citizen of the Year Awards acknowledge the unsung heroes of our community who make our city a better place.
"If you know an individual, organisation, group or event that makes a real difference in our community, I encourage you to nominate them for a Citizen of the Year Award," Mayor Lynette Martin OAM said.

Outstanding contribution and community service includes areas such as education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment, or any other area that contributes to the advancement and wellbeing of a community.
Nominations are open for:
- Young Citizen of the Year (persons under 30 years of age on 26 January 2024),
- Citizen of the Year (persons 30 years of age or older on 26 January 2024),
- Senior Citizen of the Year (persons 55 years of age or older on 26 January 2024),
- Community Event of the Year, for events staged during 2020, and
- Active Citizenship, delivery of outstanding work or for an event or cause staged during 2020.
The Awards will be presented to the recipients at the City of Mount Gambier Australia Day Breakfast and Citizen of the Year Awards event on Friday 26 January 2024.
"Acknowledging and celebrating our outstanding community members is a significant part of the Australia Day Breakfast event," Mayor Martin said.
Nominations will be accepted until 5:00pm on Friday 17 November 2023 and should be marked 'Citizen of Year 2024' and posted to City of Mount Gambier, PO Box 56, Mount Gambier SA 5290 or emailed to [email protected]
