It is time to nominate senior Western Australian artists for their outstanding, lifelong contributions ahead of the 2024 State Cultural Treasures Awards. Nominations are open until 7 August.
The Awards, formerly known as State Living Treasures, first took place in 1998. They honour WA artists who have made a lifelong contribution to their art form and inspired audiences and communities alike.
The Awards were also presented in 2004, 2015 and 2022. To date, there have been 39 winners. The 2022 recipients were:
- Chris Hill;
- Ernie Dingo AM;
- Helen Matthews;
- Helicopter Tjungurrayi;
- Kim Scott;
- Nannup Music Festival;
- Terri Charlesworth OAM; and
- Wayne Jowandi Barker.
The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) hosts the State Cultural Treasures Awards. The Awards aim to recognise and reward artists whose work and careers have provided a long-lasting legacy to WA's arts and cultural landscape.
