The annual awards celebrate Western Australians who are working towards a low-waste future through improved waste practices and innovative waste solutions.
'Do Better Than The Bin' is a key message of the WasteSorted program, which helps educate the community to find a better place for their unwanted items and reduce unnecessary waste going to landfill.
The WasteSorted Awards recognise individuals, businesses, local governments, community groups and schools in the following categories:
Community Waste Award;
Schools Award;
Business Award;
Waste Champion Award;
Waste Team Award;
Local Government Award;
Regional Award;

Winners will be announced at a gala dinner award ceremony on the final day of the annual Waste and Resource Recovery Conference on Thursday, 11 September at Crown Perth.
Nominations close on Monday, 26 May 2025 with full details on categories and how to apply available at the Waste Authority website.
As stated by Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn:
"The WasteSorted Awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise individuals and organisations in our community who are embracing the 'do better than the bin' message by reducing, reusing and recycling waste and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.
"These efforts help protect our diverse environment, create a more circular economy and support a sustainable, low-waste future for WA.
"I look forward to celebrating the achievements of Western Australians who are leading the way and championing waste reduction in their communities."
