Nominations to Open for Victorian Local Council Elections

2024 Council Elections

Nominations to stand as a candidate in the 2024 local council elections open on Monday 9 September.

Prospective candidates must make an appointment with the election manager to lodge their nomination forms in person and pay their $250 nomination fee. They must be able to provide evidence that they have completed the mandatory candidate training online through Local Government Victoria.

The Nillumbik Shire Council election office is located at 970 Main Road Eltham.

The election office will be open for nominations during business hours from Monday 9 September until 12 noon Tuesday 17 September. Call 131 832 from Monday 9 September to book a nomination appointment.

Information sessions

To help candidates prepare, the VEC will hold two information sessions for prospective candidates about the nomination and election process.

The sessions will be held in person and will be facilitated by Election Manager Doug Hocking.

There are two session times:

  • 4 September at 7pm
  • 5 September at 10.30am

Location: 32 Civic Drive Greensborough

There is no need to register, just turn up.

Prospective candidates are strongly encouraged to attend one of the scheduled information sessions or watch the online video about nominating as a candidate.
