Noosa Council's $184 million 2024/25 budget includes a $45 million capital works program.
Roads, bridges, transport and stormwater infrastructure are a major focus, with $16.5 million to be invested over the next 12 months in these areas.
"There's $6.4 million set aside to improve our parks, community facilities and sportsgrounds and a further $2.3 million to upgrade pathways, boardwalks and trails," Mayor Frank Wilkie said.
Highlights include a $100,000 renewal of Noosaville's Pirate Playground, $102,500 for renewal of park furniture across the shire, $256,300 to improve local beach access points and $500,000 to upgrade sports field lighting at Sel Bonnel Oval, Cooroy Sports Complex.
"We'll invest around $500,000 into renewal of the shire's bus stops to improve accessibility, with $5.4 million for sealed road upgrades and $200,000 in rock armour renewal around the Noosa River.
"A priority is completing the major projects we've already started over the past 12 months, including upgrades like the second stage of Ed Webb Park at Sunshine Beach, the Peregian Beach Skate Park and the Noosa Spit sand nourishment and restoration project.
"Alongside this year's capital program, we'll continue working through more than $100 million worth of flood recovery projects funded by the state and federal governments."
Flood recovery projects recently completed include reconstruction work on Simpsons Road, Cootharaba Road, and a second section of Cooroy-Belli Creek Road.
"A new reconstruction project is kicking off next week to repair damage at nine sites on Upper Pinbarren Creek Road, Pinbarren," the Mayor said.
"It's a significant body of work."
The capital works program includes an $8.6 million allocation for resource recovery and waste management projects and $4 million toward strategic planning projects, including social housing.
"This will ensure we continue to deliver on the actions of our Housing Strategy."
