We're a proud member of the Northern Councils Alliance (NCA), a great organisation that gives a strong advocacy voice to the seven councils it represents.
This week, a number of organisations and key stakeholders joined our Mayor Frances Eyre, Deputy Mayor Ben Ramcharan and Councillors Natalie Duffy and Geoff Paine and Richard Stockman along with the Mayors and councillors of the member councils at the launch of the NCA's strategic vision and advocacy priorities.
We're an active member of the NCA,and have worked closely with fellow members City of Whittlesea, City of Darebin, Banyule City Council, Hume City Council, Mitchell Shire Council and Merri-bek City Council to develop a five-year blue print for strategic advocacy across four priority areas:
- Transport connectivity and access
- Jobs and skills growth
- Community health and wellbeing
- Regional collaboration.
The priorities chosen by the NCA are issues of regional importance that councils have identified as needing government support.
Mayor Frances Eyre said: "Our region is home to a million people and growing. There is an immediate need to plan and deliver appropriate infrastructure as a matter of urgency so that our communities will thrive in the future."
Nillumbik Shire Council will continue to work collaboratively with our fellow NCA members to benefit Melbourne's north now and into the future.
