A man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a car and evading police for three hours through the northern and western suburbs.
Just before 10.30pm on Tuesday 23 June, police spotted a white Audi sedan parked on Crouch Road at Golden Grove and approached the driver.
The driver took off from police and had a minor collision with the police vehicle. The Audi was then pursued onto Golden Grove Road where the patrol lost sight of it.
Checks revealed the sedan was stolen from a Pirie Street address sometime during the day on Tuesday 23 June.
Over the preceding three hours Western District and Northern District patrols saw the stolen car travelling through Ridgehaven, Cavan and Kilburn. When it was spotted at the intersection of Churchill Road and Cromwell Road at Kilburn the car was missing a front tyre but continued being driven.
About 1.45am the vehicle was then sighted on Grand Junction Road at Regency Park and followed onto Opala Street where the driver stopped the vehicle and started running. After a short foot chase police caught him a short distance away where he was arrested without incident.
The 31-year-old man from no fixed address was charged with engaging in a police pursuit and illegal use, he was also charged with other offences he allegedly committed over the past three months including two counts of illegal use of a motor vehicle, engaging in a police pursuit, aggravated serious criminal trespass, three counts of serious criminal trespass, two counts of illegal interference of a motor vehicle and committing acts to endanger life.
He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
