Northside Library to experience a short closure for upgrades

From this Friday 26 March, the Northside Library on Berserker Street will close down temporarily for some internal refurbishments.

Communities Councillor Drew Wickerson says that this short shut down is necessary in order to complete the works, but it should not be for too long.

"The library will need to close down for a few short weeks while we give the customer service area a quick make over," Cr Wickerson said.

"The installation of a new desk will improve staff and customer access, while a small internal wall will be removed to open up further public access close to the customer service desk.

"The creation of a larger lounge area will increase browsing opportunities in a more welcoming and accessible way.

"The Northside Library is just a hop, step and jump away from local primary schools, early childhood centres and various high schools and we want to make our Library as welcoming as it can be for our customers.

"Many of our Northside members would now be aware that we are closing down while these refurbishments take place and we do apologise for any inconvenience.

"We have been contacting our members and placing signage around the library, but we want to make sure that everyone is aware of this temporary change.

"Safety is always our highest priority, so during the shutdown we will also need to close the afterhours return chute, as there will be strictly no access to the site by customers and staff.
