Norwood Payneham & St Peters Approves Budget for Major 2024-2025 Projects

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters has adopted its 2024-25 Budget, with more than $58 million in capital works at its centrepiece.

This year's budget will result in an average residential rate increase of 7.01% or $149, bringing the residential (average) rate to $2,040.

The adopted budget will result in almost one third of residential properties only paying the Minimum Rate of $1,277.

More than three in five (63%) of residential property owners will pay no more than to $2,000, which is $40 below the average rate.

Mayor Robert Bria acknowledged that while this year's rate increase is higher than those of recent years, the Council is delivering a significant infrastructure renewal and new capital works program.

This includes:

• road reseals ($4.177 million);

• footpath reconstruction ($951,000);

• kerb and water tables ($1.552 million);

• stormwater works including the Trinity Valley Drainage Upgrade ($11.642 million); and

• renewal of other infrastructure asset renewals ($1.972 million).

Other major projects funded in the budget are the Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre

Redevelopment and the upgrade of George Street, Norwood, which is the first major instalment of the Parade Masterplan.

The Council is also funding an exciting events program, which includes efex Men's Stage 3 for the 2025 Tour Down Under, Concerts in the Park series and Raising the Bar Adelaide.

$200,000 has been allocated towards next year's AFL Gather Round, which the Council hopes to be a part of again following the success of the two games played at Norwood Oval last April.

"Our citizens work hard for their money which goes into the Council budget, so it is only fair the Council ensures the money in the budget works hard for them," Mayor Bria said.

"As a Council, we are absolutely committed to delivering high quality services and infrastructure for our community.

"Over a number of years, the Council has been focused on delivering a number of projects, but we know there is still much more to be done," said Mayor Bria.
