Police are appealing for witnesses to a shooting in Nowra yesterday to come forward.
A critical incident investigation is underway following a police shooting in Nowra yesterday (Wednesday 10 January 2024).
Just before 1pm yesterday (Wednesday January 2024), police were called to a medical clinic on Junction Street, Nowra, after reports a patient produced a firearm.
About 2.40pm, the 34-year-old man – armed with a firearm – came out of the premises and confronted officers.
He was shot and was immediately treated by officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene.
There were no other injuries reported.
A critical incident team from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad will investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police believe there were a number of people in the vicinity who may have witnessed the incident; they are appealing for those people to contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
The investigation will be subject to an independent review and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
