Media release from NPS MedicineWise and the National COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce
NPS MedicineWise has joined the National COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce (the Taskforce) as a partner organisation, joining a group of leading health bodies keeping clinicians up to date with the latest evidence through the provision of recommendations and living guidelines.
Executive Director of the Taskforce Associate Professor Julian Elliott says the Taskforce has created a single source of truth for clinicians working to provide the best possible care for Australians during this pandemic.
"To help clinicians keep up with the latest evidence, we've brought together 28 national peak clinical bodies to speak with one voice and provide evidence-based guidelines that are up to date with the latest research," said A/Prof Elliott.
"Our focus has been to provide trustworthy guidance within a rapid timeframe, so clinicians can be confident they are providing the best possible care. We're extremely excited to have NPS MedicineWise join the Taskforce as a partner and play an important role in contextualising the information we provide, disseminating it, and then supporting its implementation in practice," he said.
NPS MedicineWise CEO Adjunct Associate Professor Steve Morris says the partnership will mean additional amplification for the guidance provided by the Taskforce.
"The core role of NPS MedicineWise is to promote the wise and safe use of medicines and medical tests and bridging the gap of evidence to practice, so I am delighted to be able to bring this expertise to promoting the excellent work and guidance of the Clinical Evidence Taskforce during the COVID-19 pandemic," said Adj A/Prof Morris.
A new episode of the NPS MedicineWise podcast released today features Steve Morris and Julian Elliott discussing the role of the Clinical Evidence Taskforce, the new partnership with NPS MedicineWise, the role of living evidence, and recent and upcoming clinical topics to be covered by the Taskforce.
